Give advice only if it feels right to do so. Do what you can do, and then let go and let God. Lighten up so that they might lighten up.
Supporting suicidality can be very challenging, and this is often because we haven't yet come to terms with our own pain, or our own fear of death.
I have experience both supporting a roommate with suicidal urges, as well as my own depressions that came with suicidal urges. Here are my thoughts.
In truth, technology isn't created by little egos. It comes in from higher Mind, and it is never expected.
Many years ago, for the first time, someone must have suggested running electricity through the wall of our house. And you can bet that immediately many people feared it, and fought it. And the story goes that Edison, in a ghastly public display, electrocuted an elephant in the town square, in order to scare people away from alternating current - which was being offered by his competitor, Nikola Tesla.

My sister and I both grew up in North Vancouver, a very straight suburb of Vancouver populated by mostly middle and higher income families.
But when we spoke recently, she was calling from LA. And what she said to me was, "Everyone here is into astrology!! Its like the first thing they ask you! It's freaky..." She was definitely not impressed by this. My sister is in her 30's at the time of writing the this, and is a very capable young women. I wouldn't be impressed either.
